Position: Licensed Practical Nurse
Reports to: Registered Nurse (RN)
FLSA Status: Hourly
Function:
To direct and provide nursing support for all aspects of medical assistance and supervision of general health of people who attend Eagles’ Wings and Eagles’ Pointe I & II.
Know How:
The position requires a nursing degree (LPN) and at least 2 years of nursing experience, Drivers’ license, meet all federal and state funding requirements. Computer experience and MAS certified.
The position requires the ability to collaborate effectively with the person receiving services, co-workers, family members, related agencies, and others. The person in this position must have the ability to assist individuals in achieving healthcare goals while promoting dignity and respect. The LPN must be able to communicate with individuals by listening and learning in the way that is most effective for the person. They will be able to establish rapport with individuals, family members, friends, and other natural supports to ensure comprehensive health coordination. The employee must possess a high level of written communication skills, a valid Alabama driver’s license and the ability to meet the requirements of Eagles’ Wings vehicle insurance carrier, if applicable.
Principal Activities:
1. Administration of medication and monitoring of overall health of programs.
2. Implements supports and services as outlined in each person’s Support Plan.
3. Works in coordination with the LPN and direct support professionals.
4. Is knowledgeable of peoples’ medical and health needs. Carries out directions from other health care professionals or oversees them.
5. Completes duties to ensure the health and safety of individuals, including, but not limited to, taking people to medical appointments, dental appointments, providing medication administration and education, reporting signs and symptoms of illness, unusual behaviors, etc.
6. Is knowledgeable of Eagles’ wings operations manuals, policies and procedures especially all that have to do with Nurse Delegation (NDP).
7. Carries out and trains others on medication administration in NDP.
8. Able to recognize medical needs and knowledge of medications individuals are taking.
9. Reports any suspicion of abuse, neglect, mistreatment, and exploitation and cooperates fully in investigation.
10. Reports maintenance needs of the home, equipment, and vehicles.
11. Annual assessments on each person to identify goals and a care plan.
12. Manages the LPN’s and has staff working under her license.
13. Meets at least minimum staff development/training requirements in compliance with EW standards and funding agency requirements.
14. Provide 1:1 staffing, personal care needs, feeding tube and trach for medically fragile individual.
15. Performs additional duties as assigned by your supervisors.

Language skills:
The position requires the ability to read, analyze, and interpret common correspondence and the ability to write and complete forms. The position requires the ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.
